PARALLEL PLACES COLLECTION
Jeremiah Meyer
Description
"In The TV N2", Meyer explores the enigmatic reflections we encounter in dormant screens. Rendered in muted grays and deep blacks, the spectral figures emerge from an inactive television, capturing that liminal moment when technology becomes a mirror rather than a window. The brushwork deliberately blurs distinction between physical space and reflection, creating ambiguity about what is actually present versus what is merely perceived. Through masterful use of shadow and form, Meyer invites us to consider how these everyday reflective surfaces create parallel realities—ghostly versions of ourselves existing in spaces that are simultaneously familiar and foreign.
Jeremiah Meyer (b. 2003) is a visual artist from Greensboro, North Carolina, currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. Drawing from the emotional landscape of his hometown, Meyer’s work explores the tension between freedom and confinement, safety and isolation. Through fragmented perspectives and recurring motifs like cars and domestic spaces, he investigates how memory, imagination, and perception shape our understanding of place and self. His paintings invite viewers into quiet moments of reflection, offering space for multiple interpretations and emotional resonance.
