LAYERED COLLECTION
Joaquin Salim
Description
In Pioneer, fragments of typography, print, and archival imagery converge into a layered composition that recalls both the language of design and the ephemerality of memory. The bold numerals “1973” anchor the work in a historical moment, while the surrounding clippings blur the line between documentation and reinterpretation. Salim transforms these discarded traces into a new constellation of meaning, an exploration of how we piece together history through what remains.
Joaquin Salim (1987) a Venezuelan multidisciplinary artist, based in New York. Salim has exhibited his work across the U.S., Latin America, and Europe, and his practice often transforms overlooked details and forgotten objects into layered, visually engaging compositions. With a background in graphic design and a Master of Fine Arts from SCAD University, he brings a thoughtful and experimental approach to both materials and media, exploring the intersection of art, design, and everyday objects.
