LAYERED COLLECTION
Joaquin Salim
Description
In Mars, the distant image of the red planet emerges through layers of text and ephemera, framed by the phrase “if its” and scattered fragments of price tags and luggage slips. The collage bridges cosmic exploration with the language of commerce and travel, suggesting how even our grandest frontiers are filtered through systems of value and exchange. Salim’s layering transforms Mars into both a destination and a metaphor. A reminder that discovery is always entangled with desire, cost, and memory.
